The Bronze Star is the first Bronze level award.
Following this course will introduce you to lifesaving: you will learn to solve various problems, to make decisions as an individual and as a team member, to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and develop self-rescue skills that will help you save your own life.

The Bronze Star Course is a 10 to 12-hour course lasting for 5 days, each day we will meet for about 2-2.5 hours.
You must attend 100% of the course.
Photocopies:
The student must provide proof of age (11 years old) (ex. Medicare) by the third theory class.

Behaviour and Responsibilities of the Student:
Students are expected to arrive on time.
Students are expected to have their bathing suit on underneath their clothes as to not waste time.
If a student is to act out, or give any attitude they can and will be kicked out of the lesson, and potentially fail the course.
Evaluation:
A quiz can be given at any time during the course.
The Bronze Star course is an instructor evaluated course, every task you perform can and will be assessed.

The Bronze Medallion introduces the four basic components of lifesaving: judgement, knowledge, skills and physical fitness. You will learn defense, release, tow and carry techniques to be prepared to save conscious and unconscious victims in situations that are increasingly risky. You will also improve your swimming technique and endurance.
THE HOLDER OF A BRONZE MEDALLION AWARD IS ENTITLED TO WORK AS ASSISTANT-LIFEGUARD IN A POOL (15 YEARS OLD AND OLDER). .
Prerequisites:
Student must be 13 years of age by the exam or hold a valid Bronze Star Certificate.
Student must be able to demonstrate the skills and knowledge learnt in Red Cross Swim Kids 10 of the Canadian Red Cross: Water Safety Services or equivalent.

The Bronze Medallion Course is a 25-hour course lasting for 13 days, each day we will meet for 2-2.5 hours.
You must attend 100% of the course. If you are absent, you must catch up on the course you missed.
Photocopies:
The student must provide proof of age (13yeras old) (ex. Medicare) and/or a valid Bronze Star Certificate by the third theory class.

At the end of the course there is a final written exam, you must score at least 75% on the theory exam in order to take the practical exam.
